Congratulations to Dr. Fanita Tyrell: Editor of a Landmark Special Issue Celebrating Black Scholars in Psychology

In a special issue published in American Psychologist titled "Foundational Contributions of Black Scholars in Psychology," we are thrilled to announce that our very own esteemed PI, Dr. Fanita Tyrell, served as one of the editors! Alongside Drs. Helen Neville, José M. Causadias, Kevin Cokley, and Karlyn Adams-Wiggins, Dr. Tyrell contributed as a guest editor to this remarkable special issue, aiming to document and amplify the invaluable contributions of scholars of African descent to the expansive field of psychology. Congratulations on this extraordinary accomplishment. We are immensely proud of you.

RACC Lab Alum gets accepted into doctoral program!

Simon is starting his PhD in Counseling Psychology with a Sports Psychology specialization at the University of North Texas! Throughout his training Simon will work with the UNT Women’s Basketball team, serving as their Sport Psychology Consultant. We are so proud of you, congratulations Simon!

RACC Lab Members in Master's Program Graduate

Congratulations to our former graduate research assistants, Simon Wright and Bunmi Odubayo, on completing the Master's program in Clinical Psychological Sciences at the University of Maryland! Bunmi will be starting her new position as a project research manager at Children's Hospital at Philadephia and Simon is applying to PhD programs in Counseling Psychology. 42nd Minnesota Symposium on Resilience in Development

October 2022

Dr. Tyrell, her mentors (Dante Cicchetti, PhD, and Ann Masten, PhD), ICD faculty members and student organized the 42nd Minnesota Symposium on Oct 27 and Oct 28, 2022. The theme of the symposium was Resilience in Development: Pathways to Multisystem Integration. During the period of two days, well-renowned resilience experts and scholars gave informative talks on the topic of understanding resilience in young people through multilevel, multisystem and multidisciplinary methods and approaches. The presenters addressed issues, including understanding and combating structural racism, finding ways to support culturally sensitive research, and creating new ways to study resilience in the realm of a developmental and multisystem viewpoint.
